Find out moreSome medicines are taken only when needed, such as pain relief, but must not be taken too often. In PRN mode the dispenser doesn't alarm at fixed times. Instead, a dose can be dispensed whenever it's needed, but only once the minimum time since the last dose has passed.
For regular daily medication. The alarm sounds at set times each day, for example 7am, 12pm, 3pm and 8pm.
For occasional medication. You set a minimum time between doses, for example no more than every 4 hours. The display shows when the next dose is available.
PRN mode is coming soon to the Pivotell Advance Smart, Advance Wi-Fi and Advance 4G. The interval must be set in line with the GP's, pharmacist's or patient information leaflet's instructions. PRN mode is not suitable for anyone who is confused about their medication.
